2019 Year in Review: Our Communities
At T. Parker Host, we take care of the environment and the communities in which we work. By serving our communities, we foster relationships and show our gratitude for the areas that have helped us grow.
Host was recognized for the third year in a row as a River Star Business by the Elizabeth River Project. Our work to restore and preserve the cleanliness of the Elizabeth River included planting native shrubs to bring back butterflies and bees, and installing rain gardens to act as a natural filter at Tidewater Tank Terminal in Chesapeake, VA.
In the New Orleans area, we worked with Jefferson Parish’s Adopt-A-School Program to prepare elementary school classrooms and play areas for the students’ return to school. We were also playground sponsors for five local elementary schools, helping support facility upgrades and provide uniforms and sports equipment.
When Tropical Storm Imelda flooded Beaumont, TX, Host donated supplies and furniture to Mauriceville Elementary to help the teachers and students recover from the damage. Weeks later, when Hurricane Dorian devastated the Caribbean, our South Florida team worked with Port Everglades, the US Coast Guard and others to gather and send much needed supplies to our neighbors in need.
Host gave back throughout the holidays, too. We sponsored Dickens’ Christmas Towne at Nauticus in Norfolk, VA, where over 400 students from Title One Norfolk Public Schools enjoyed the entertainment and lunch. We also collected toys for patients and families at the New Orleans Children’s Hospital, and Host matched all team member donations to the United Way locations serving the areas where we live and work.
